April 3, 2024, was a special evening for YellowYellow ESG Advisory Services as we celebrated our third anniversary with an event that perfectly aligned with our mission. Our team attended a sold-out debate on carbon capture at the Rotman School of Management, at the University of Toronto where four distinguished experts tackled the critical question: Is carbon capture a responsible solution to climate change?
Moderated by Susan Ormiston from CBC, the debate highlighted two perspectives. Martha Hall Findlay and Phil De Luna advocated for carbon capture as a vital “bridge” to net zero, emphasizing its importance in hard-to-abate sectors like oil and gas. They envisioned Canada as a global leader in this technology with the right investments and initiatives. On the opposing side, Keith Stewart and Professor Jessica F. Green questioned its efficacy, cost, and scalability, arguing for a stronger focus on renewable energy.
The debate underscored the complexity of addressing climate change and the need for collective action and careful allocation of public funds. It was a powerful reminder that while carbon capture has a role to play, it must be part of a broader, aggressive push toward sustainability.
Following the inspiring debate, our team enjoyed a delightful dinner to celebrate our journey. The rain didn’t dampen our spirits; instead, the evening was filled with warmth and joy as we toasted to our past projects and the valuable lessons learned along the way. It was truly a special night, reinforcing our commitment to a brighter future. We are incredibly grateful to our clients for their unwavering trust and support. Reflecting on the past three years, we are eager to step into 2024 stronger and more determined, continuing our mission with the same nimbleness, flexibility, and responsiveness that define YellowYellow.
Cheers to many more years of success!
